Job Title: Surgical Tech Profession: Surgical Services Specialty: OR Tech / Surgical Tech Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 2 years of Surgical Tech experience required License: BLS required Certifications: None specified Must-Have: Candidates must be comfortable with orthopedic cases. Teaching hospital and community hospital experience required. General surgery, endoscopic procedures, and orthopedics experience required. First-time travelers will not be accepted. Description: This position involves working in an operating room setting. The role is orthopedic heavy, with 15-20 cases per day across 6 rooms. Holiday and weekend call is required, approximately 5-6 shifts per month. No overnight or weekend shifts will be scheduled outside of on-call duties. All travelers are expected to assist in precepting and orienting new staff and travelers. Preferred experience includes labor and delivery, gynecology, plastics, podiatry, robotics, and urology. Scheduling is self-scheduled, balanced by the OR lead. Floating to the main campus may occur, but is rare. Scrubs will be provided by the facility. This position is located in a large acute-care facility that handles complex cases. The facility provides cutting-edge research and education as a teaching hospital. This position is not open to local candidates, defined as those living within 100 miles of the facility. Travelers should be aware that they will not be paid the same as core staff members. Call-back rates are only applicable for off-site calls after shifts have ended. Travelers should seek guidance from their agency regarding pay inquiries. Travelers must demonstrate a commitment to maintaining a nicotine-free environment. The role requires familiarity with Epic charting. No requests for time off will be accepted during the first week of orientation. All contracts will conclude at the end of a work week. This position will involve interacting primarily with adult and geriatric patients. Daily case load averages between 15-20 cases.
